In Matthew 6, Jesus commands us not to do our acts of righteousness before men in order to be seen by them. But then he gives us an idea of what "acts of righteousness" are:
- Give to the needy
- Pray
- Forgive debtors and those who sin against you
- Fast, but not as if it is obvious
- Store up treasure in heaven

A good line of study/thought is to compare the "hidden" righteousness of chapter 6 with verses like 5:16.
I've also found it helpful to trace the progression of thought between his commands of 5-6-7.
Great thoughts, thanks for checking in.
